Back to Darkest Africa

It´s been a very long time since my last update. Very long. But I am still alive and I am still painting miniatures. 

During the last weeks I was able to get back at the painting table. The result is what you can see here. Another unit for my Congo Arab force for Death in the Dark Continent. 

I have changed the way of basing the miniatures. I opted for a more flexible system. That way I am able to use the miniatures on multi bases as well as single based for other gaming systems. 

The new bases are 22mm in diameter what makes the mulitbase a little bit larger than my other DitdC bases. But that´s not really important. 

The multibases are laser cut MDF and were done by warbases.co.uk  I can really recommend their service and products. 

I have glued magnetic foilage at the bottom of the laser cut base. That keeps the miniatures strong in the multi bases.

But now back to the Arab reinforcements:

Disorder Markers

In Death in the Dark Continent units will gain disorder markers within the game. Instead of using simple plastic markers I decided to do some nice looking small vignettes that will do the job instead. That will be a lot of work but also a lot of fun to do. It will also help to look great on the tabletop.

Back to Darkest Africa!

It´s been a while but I now have an update for my Death in the Dark Continent project. The last days I painted four Tetela warriors with muskets. That makes two more bases for my Force Publique allies. As these are skirmishers I placed two miniatures on the base. 

To fit to the look of my warriors armed with spears and shields I sculpted the musket armed miniatures some fancy hair cuts with green stuff. They also got some tribal scars. They look fierce aren´t they?

The Congo Arab war - Tetela Allies

I´ve painted some bases for my Force Publique army. This time it is three bases of Tetela cannibal warriors. These warriors were allied with Dhanis force in the war against the Arab slavers. 

Here we have two stands of warriors and a kind of command base, though my allied force won´t have a command base in Death in the dark Continent. But it looks cool. I will paint up more of these in the future. 

The Congo Arab War - The Arab Slavers

The masters of the slave business in the Congo basin.

I really like the colourful army of the Congo Arabs. It is really fun to paint them, though it will take some time to finish the army as I will need lots of bases to field against the Force Publique.

The most famous of all Zanzibari slave traders is without doubt Tippu Tip. The Foundry Darkest Africa range has a fantastic model to represent him. But I will use the miniature as his son Sefu, because Tippu Tip was already back to Zanzibar in retirement when the war broke out. Sefu was in charge then.

The first bases of the Manyema warriors armed with muskets. I used Foundry Ruga-Rugas as I think they will fit well for the arabised central african Manyema. Tough guys!
