New Year - Millennium Hammer - and other stuff

yes, a little late but all good things need their time.

Ok - 2016 was a let´s say difficult year for me. On the real life side as well as on the hobby front.
I did not manage to paint a lot, did not visit the shows I normally visit and started lots of different things unable to focus on a bigger project.

A few days ago I got together with "Künne" my regular gaming mate and my good friend in one person (lucky boy I am).

We talked about what we would like to do in 2017 in regards of hobby time. After some talking about good old times we remembered when we first met each other and where it all started. We played Warhammer against each other at that point when Warhammer has had it´s best times ever. I talk about the 6th Edition released in September 2000. From now on I call it Millennium-Hammer just to create another term for an older version of Warhammer :-)

Very soon we decided which army we will gather for our new project. I will go for the High Elves which I always loved for their style of playing and for the lovley miniatures designed over the last 25 years. Another reason is that I already have some painted miniatures for this army as well.

We will create our armies in little steps and play some battles while our armies will growing bigger. So hopefully you will see more of this project in the future.

For those of you that are not very interested in Warhammer I will also have some other things I will focus on. I have some ideas for ancient mythic wargaming, Frostgrave and some other things. More on this later...

To make a start showing painted miniatures I have some pictures of the Warhammer High Elves I have already painted.

My favorite HE miniatures - the Lothern Seaguard

I have painted 15 of them - the army will include 2 untits of 20 each. 

I love the detail on these miniatures, different armour and quivers

My other favorites - White Lions of Chrace

Puhh, that will take some time. Though the Dark Elves from my mate will keep me going.

Lesser Goblin rabble

For all my Orc and Goblin stuff I'm also planning a lesser Goblin rabble. The plan is still only to use Kev Adams miniatures. Squigs, lesser Goblins, Snotlings, Orclings or whatever you like to call them.

Here I made a start with a small growler from the VOR range from Fasa. They really fit in my plan perfectly.

Dwarfs again

As promised here are two more dwarfs from my collection. The map reader is one of my favorites. The shield design of the second dwarf is a hommage to a painted dwarf from the book "Heroes for Wargames" from Stewart Parkinson, published in 1986 by Paper Tiger. I can strongly recommend to buy this book if you can get your hands on it. It is "the book" if you are a Citadel Miniatures collector. 

A dwarf map reader and dwarf fighter. The fighter is one of several poses that were once part of the Lord of the Rings series from Citadel. I think I have now 4 different of them.

 

Just to show you that I´m still going on with this project here are some work in progress pics of two more dwarf adventurers and a second slave ogre pitfighter. 

More dwarfs

I´ve painted more dwarfs.

The thief with the looting bag got a new beard sculpted as the original one wasn´t really great. The dwarf with the beer mug got a new sword as the original sword was a little miscasted. I really love the look and the character of the old Perry twins dwarfs. The thieves and adventurers really capture the feeling and story of a bunch that´s looking for more gold. Greedy little bastards!

Two more dwarfs from the same range. The thief with the grappling hook got a plastic pipe from a Games Workshop dwarfs plastic spure. You can find some really nice and useful bits in these sprues. 

The last miniature for today is a Citadel ogre from Jes Goodwin. He was bought by the dwarfs for a little bag of gold on a slave market during their journey. A good deal for the gang. He will give them more fighting power when they have to fight an enemy in superior number. I like the look of the ball and chain weapon smeared with blood. He was given the name `Grong the Slave Ogre`.

I will use them for Song of blades and heroes and also for Overlanders in God of Battles. The pitfighter slave ogre will be used as cave bear in God of Battles. 

Dwarfs!

The last few weeks I enjoyed painting some old Citadel and Marauder dwarfs. There are a lot more to come. Here you can see an old Citadel dwarf adventurer or thief and a dwarf wizard from Marauder Miniatures. Lovely models and such a fun to paint.

I will paint more of these guys in the next painting sessions. We will see for how long I can stay to them before switching to another paint project.
